Best Reseller Hosting 2026 : The Ultimate Guide for Agencies & Entrepreneurs
Right now the client pays to a Hosting provider. You still patch their plugins. The invoice has someone else’s logo on it. The other side is simple: they pay you. Their panel says your brand. ns1.yourbrand.com answers DNS. When they need help, they write you because you are the host they bought.
The bridge is reseller hosting — wholesale space with your name on the door. You rent a pool of accounts. You sell them as your plans. The upstream company still owns the metal.
The reseller hosting landscape in 2026 has fundamentally changed. The days of simply buying cheap server space and flipping it for a $2 margin are over. Today, the most successful resellers are leveraging AI-driven security, WHMCS automation, and premium infrastructure to build highly profitable, recurring-revenue hosting businesses.
If you are a web designer, agency owner, or freelancer looking to stop leaving money on the table, you don’t need a comparison of 50 different providers. You need to know which infrastructure will support your specific business model.
The $0.99 price is a short sale. It does not last. After the sale you pay the normal monthly fee. On InMotion’s small reseller plan that fee is often about $36 a month. Always read the renewal line at checkout — each host is different. A “free WHMCS” badge is only free if it is still in the plan after 2026. Buy WHMCS Plus yourself and the list price is $34.95 a month for 250 clients.
Search results mash three different purchases into one page:
- Classic WHM reseller. cPanel accounts, white-label DNS, you are support tier one.
- Agency care plans. You sell managed WordPress. The upstream is a cloud or managed WP host. That is a different product.
- A VPS you split yourself. You are the sysadmin. That is not a reseller plan. See cheap VPS hosting only if you wanted raw iron.
Stay on this page if you want to sell hosting under your brand. Leave if you only needed two client sites.
Prices below are listed US rates checked in September 2026. Intro and renewal are both named. Confirm before making a purchase.

Prices checked September 2026 on US vendor pages. Intro rates and renewal rates differ. Confirm checkout. WHMCS sold alone starts at $34.95/mo for Plus (250 clients) in 2026 — older “$18–$20” figures are stale.
When reseller hosting is the wrong buy
Skip a reseller plan if any of these are true:
- You have one or two client sites and no desire to run billing.
- You cannot answer a password-reset ticket at 9 p.m.
- You planned to undercut Bluehost by two dollars. That race is already lost.
- You needed Windows, root, or a trading box. Those are other products: Windows VPS and trading-bot VPS.
Buy reseller when you will put your logo on nameservers, set three simple packages, and wrap hosting inside a care plan the client already pays you for.
How the stack actually works
Upstream host → your WHM (or StackCP) → each client’s control panel.
WHM is the desk where you create and suspend accounts. cPanel is what the client sees on most classic plans. 20i uses StackCP instead. WHMCS (or 20i’s HostShop) is the billing engine: invoice, take the card, provision the account.

White-label means the client should not see the upstream name in DNS, the panel header, or the invoice. Ask for custom nameservers (ns1.yourbrand.com) before you sell the first plan. If the host leaks its brand into the welcome email, you do not have a hosting company. You have a middleman.
You still handle first-line support. The upstream handles the metal, the network, and the panel bugs. Price that time. It is the real cost.
What WHMCS is — and what it is not
WHMCS is billing software for people who sell hosting. It is not a server. It is not cPanel. It is not support staff.

What it does. It stores the client, prints the invoice, takes the card, and can open the hosting account when the payment clears. The client logs in to pay, raise a ticket, and see invoices. You log in to see who is late.
What it does not do. It does not speed the site up. It does not stop a noisy neighbor. It does not answer “how do I add a mailbox” at 11 p.m. If the wholesale box is slow, WHMCS will still send a pretty invoice for a slow box.
What it costs in 2026. Official Plus is $34.95 a month for 250 clients if you buy it from WHMCS. Some hosts bundle a license (InMotion advertises this). KnownHost sells its own add-on near $9.95. 20i can use HostShop instead — same job, different brand.
If you have five clients and still send invoices by hand, you can wait. The day you forget who paid, you need a billing desk. That desk is WHMCS or HostShop. It is not the host’s marketing page.
A full WHMCS setup guide does not belong on this URL. This page picks the wholesale line. Billing software is a separate purchase.
Six options, one job each
#1. InMotion Hosting — the usual first brand
InMotion sells classic Linux reseller with WHM, cPanel, and WHMCS included. Plans run from 25 to 100 cPanel accounts. Storage on current pages is SSD or NVMe depending on the tier. The 90-day money-back window is the longest common one in this set.
US pages in September 2026 show the entry R-1000N near $19.99 a month on a promo term, renewing near $36. Older ads still flash $0.99. That is a teaser, not a run-rate. Official page: inmotionhosting.com/reseller-hosting.
Choose InMotion when you want WHMCS in the box and time to test the panel.
Skip InMotion when you needed CloudLinux isolation as the headline, or Windows.
#2. HostArmada — cloud reseller with LiteSpeed
HostArmada’s reseller line is cloud + NVMe + LiteSpeed, with per-account CPU and RAM caps. Seat counts run about 40 to 150. They advertise white-label and a 45-day money-back window.
Listed Sitedust in September 2026: promo near $21 a month, regular near $28. Higher tiers step to about $28 / $35 / $54 promo against higher renewals. Official page: hostarmada.com/cloud-ssd-Reseller-hosting.
Choose HostArmada when you want cloud locations and LiteSpeed without building a VPS.
Skip HostArmada when you needed a 90-day refund or a household name your accountant already knows.
#3. KnownHost — isolation before the brochure
KnownHost’s reseller plans put CloudLinux around each cPanel account (about 2 vCPU and 2 GB RAM per account on current compare pages). Storage is NVMe on AMD EPYC. LiteSpeed is in the stack. White-label nameservers are supported.
Basic+ often lists near $17 a month intro and $20 renewal for 25 accounts and 40 GB. WHMCS is not free. KnownHost sells a license near $9.95 a month for up to 250 clients, or you buy WHMCS Plus at $34.95. Official compare: knownhost.com/compare/reseller-hosting.
Choose KnownHost when one noisy client must not flatten the others.
Skip KnownHost when you refused to budget a billing license.
#4. 20i — reseller without cPanel
20i is a UK host with US reseller tiers. Clients get StackCP, not cPanel. Billing can be HostShop or WHMCS. Plans are Reseller 25 / 50 / 500 / Unlimited. First month is often $1. After that, US pages list $19.99 / $39.99 / $69.99 / $99.99. Official page: 20i.com/us/reseller-hosting.
Choose 20i when you like their panel and you do not need “cPanel” on the sales page.
Skip 20i when your clients already know cPanel and will fight a move.
#5. Liquid Web — when the client is expensive
Liquid Web’s reseller program is managed VPS or dedicated, not a $20 shared slice. Current partner pages start near $169–$178 a month. WHMCS is included. Support is the product. Official page: liquidweb.com/partner-programs/reseller-hosting.
Choose Liquid Web when you sell retainers to firms that will notice downtime.
Skip Liquid Web when you are hunting a $15 wholesale line.
#6. ChemiCloud — support-led classic reseller
ChemiCloud is a smaller LiteSpeed + cPanel reseller with a 45-day window and a reputation for answering tickets. Seat counts are modest next to InMotion’s top tier. Confirm whether WHMCS is still bundled on the plan you open. Official page: chemicloud.com/reseller-hosting.
Choose ChemiCloud when you want a human on chat more than a famous logo.
Skip ChemiCloud when you already needed 100+ seats on day one.
Pick by the job, not a category rank
Other pages split hosts into “best for billing,” “best for margin,” and “best for agencies,” then pin a #1 on each row. The jobs are real. The ranks and the 98% margin columns are not.

Billing already in the plan
InMotion (WHMCS), 20i (HostShop), Liquid Web (WHMCS on the dear tier).
KnownHost billing is extra. Official Plus is $34.95/mo, not a $240/year flyer.
One client must not take the box down
KnownHost and HostArmada — CloudLinux-style caps per account.
That is isolation. It is not a 99% margin.
The client already pays $100+ for care
Liquid Web on this page. WP Engine and SiteGround are managed WordPress, not WHM reseller.
You only have clients you already build for
Start on InMotion for the 90-day window and WHMCS in the box. Renewal near $36 is the number to print.
If you need billing in the box. InMotion advertises WHMCS on the reseller line. 20i can use HostShop instead. Liquid Web includes WHMCS on the expensive tier. KnownHost does not throw billing in — budget their add-on or official Plus at $34.95 a month. “Free WHMCS saves $240 a year” is an old flyer. Plus for 250 clients is about $419 a year if you buy it yourself.
If one busy shop must not flatten the others. KnownHost and HostArmada put CloudLinux-style caps on each account. That is the isolation job. It is not a 99% margin.
If the client already pays $100+ for care. Liquid Web is the reseller-shaped answer on this page. WP Engine and SiteGround are managed WordPress platforms. They are not classic WHM reseller.
If you thought year-one $0.99 was the wholesale cost. It is a coupon. InMotion’s common entry still renews near $36. Ten clients at $25 is $250 in, about $214 after that wholesale line — before your hours. The calculator on this page uses renewal, not the teaser.
Do not treat Hosting.com, Verpex, or Neoxea as a third trophy row. They show up on rating lists. They are in the field table below, not in the first six.
What each host costs after the promo
Listed US checkout shapes, September 2026. Promo is year one. Budget the renewal column.
| Host | Job | Intro you will see | Renewal to budget | Billing software | Skip if |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| InMotion | Classic WHM + cPanel | ~$20/mo on R-1000N promo | ~$36/mo | WHMCS included | You needed CloudLinux as the pitch |
| HostArmada | Cloud NVMe + LiteSpeed | ~$21 Sitedust | ~$28 | Often bundled — confirm | You needed a 90-day refund |
| KnownHost | CloudLinux per account | ~$17 Basic+ | ~$20 | Add-on (~$10 or $34.95 official) | You wanted billing free |
| 20i | StackCP reseller | $1 first month | $19.99–$99.99 | HostShop or WHMCS | Clients demand cPanel |
| Liquid Web | Managed VPS / dedicated | From ~$169 | Same class | WHMCS included | You wanted a starter wholesale slice |
| ChemiCloud | Support-led LiteSpeed | Check live | Check live | Confirm on the plan | You needed 150 seats now |
None of these is a lab score. Promos move. Check checkout before you pay.
Intro price, renewal, and your hours
Three lines eat the margin:
- Intro vs renewal. InMotion and HostArmada both jump. Price year two before you print a flyer.
- WHMCS if it is not included. Official Plus is $34.95 a month for 250 clients in 2026. The $18–$20 figure in older posts is dead.
- Your hours. A $25 client plan that generates four tickets a month is not 70% margin. It is a part-time job.
A simple honest package in 2026 is still $15–$25 a month for hosting only, or $50–$100 if you bundle updates, backups, and a human. Do not copy GoDaddy’s homepage price. You will lose and you will hate the tickets.
Worked example, not a promise: InMotion entry renews near $36. Ten clients on a $25 hosting-only plan is $250 in. After wholesale you have about $214 before payment fees and your time. Same ten clients on a $75 care plan is $750 in. The difference is the work you already do on their WordPress sites, not a magic host.

What is left after wholesale, billing, and your hours
This is a desk calculator, not a forecast. Presets use common renewal lines from this article. Confirm the live checkout before you print a price list.
Ten $25 plans on a $36 wholesale line leave $214 before time. After four hours at $40, $54 is left. That is hosting-only. A $75 care plan changes the math.
WHMCS Plus lists $34.95/mo for 250 clients if you buy it yourself. Payment fees are not in this box. Seat caps still apply — do not sell client 101 on a 100-seat plan.
Change the client count or the wholesale line in the calculator on this page. It uses the same renewal figures. It does not promise profit.
When one client can slow the others
Shared reseller pools can be oversold: more disk and CPU are sold than the box can give every client at once. That works until two stores run a sale on the same afternoon.
CloudLinux (KnownHost, HostArmada, and others) puts a fence around each cPanel account — a CPU cap, a RAM cap, an inode cap. One client can hit the fence. The others keep loading.
“Unlimited” on a flyer usually means “until the inode limit or the fair-use page.” If you promise unlimited and the upstream uses those caps, you will spend Friday explaining a stalled plugin update.
cPanel seats are also a cap. InMotion’s common top tier is 100 accounts. 20i’s Unlimited tier costs more on purpose. Do not sell seat 101 on a 100-seat plan.
What white-label has to include
Before the first sale, check four things on paper:
- Custom nameservers that resolve.
- Panel header with your logo, not theirs.
- Welcome email that does not name the upstream.
- Who answers a hacked WordPress install at midnight — you, or them under your brand.

If any of those fail, you are reselling a coupon.
Four steps before you sell the first plan
- Pick the job: classic WHM, 20i-style panel, or managed iron.
- Open the money-back window. Create a dummy account. Send a test invoice through WHMCS or HostShop.
- Set three packages only. Starter / Business / Care. Put storage and mailbox limits in words a shop owner can read.
- Point
ns1andns2at the assigned IPs. Sell hosting only to people who already pay you for a site.

If step 4 is empty, you do not have a hosting company yet. You have a wholesale login.
Other names you will see
These are real. They are not in the first six because the job already has a better match, or the product is a different shape.
| Name | Why it shows up | Why it stays here |
|---|---|---|
| Namecheap | Cheap, familiar | WHMCS is extra. Isolation is not the pitch. |
| HostGator | Old brand | Legacy stack. Newer NVMe resellers usually fit better. |
| Hosting.com | New brand on old Newfold lines | Confirm the exact reseller SKU and whether WHMCS is still bundled. Not a default on this page. |
| Verpex | Isolation story on listicles | Fine to shortlist later. Not enough here to displace KnownHost. |
| ResellerClub | Domain + hosting wholesale | Fine for domains. Weak as a modern cPanel shop. |
| SiteGround | Agency talk | Site Tools, not classic WHM reseller. Different product. |
| GreenGeeks | Green energy story | Higher renewal. No WHMCS in the usual bundle. |
| A2 Hosting | Turbo servers | WHMCS often add-on. |
| Hostwinds | PCMag likes the catalog | Check current support and isolation, not the 2019 brochure. |
| InterServer | Flat-ish pricing | Confirm white-label depth. |
| UltaHost | Low intro | Thin track record next to InMotion or KnownHost. |
| Neoxea | Appears on rating lists | Small sample. Treat as a field name, not a default. |
| Cloudways / WP Engine “agency” | You already host client WP | Not WHM reseller. Use the managed-WP article instead. |
HostGator and Bluehost still rank in old roundups. They are not the 2026 default.
Pick one host and stop shopping
Write the job in one line: “I will sell hosting under my brand to clients I already build for.”
If that sentence is true, open InMotion for WHMCS-in-the-box, KnownHost if isolation is the fear, 20i if you accept StackCP, Liquid Web if the client is expensive.
If the sentence is false, buy one managed WordPress plan and stop.
Frequently asked questions
What is reseller hosting?
You buy server space wholesale and sell accounts under your brand. The upstream host keeps the hardware. You keep the client relationship.
Is the $0.99 InMotion price real?
It is a promo teaser on some terms. Budget the renewal near the mid-$30s for the entry reseller plan, and read the live checkout.
Does every reseller plan include WHMCS?
No. InMotion advertises it free. KnownHost does not. Buying WHMCS yourself starts at $34.95 a month for Plus (250 clients) in 2026.
Reseller vs VPS — which one?
Reseller is a panel and a seat count. VPS is a machine you administer. If you wanted root, you wanted a VPS.
Can I sell domains too?
Most reseller programs let you add a domain registrar account. That is a separate login and a separate margin.
Who handles support?
You handle “how do I add email.” The upstream handles “the server is down.” Price the first one.
Is SiteGround reseller hosting?
Not in the classic WHM sense. SiteGround’s agency tools are a different product.
How much can I make?
There is no honest single number. Ten care-plan clients at $75 minus a $36 wholesale line is a side income. A hundred ticket-heavy $15 plans is a second job.
