2. NOTA – harming mainly BJP.

If you are opting for NOTA, though it is your right but it may also indicate towards your inability to decide. It may seem that you have taken a decision, but technically it will be the same as a blank left ballot paper.

This process will make you believe that you have taken a decision, but technically it will, in any case not be able to change the outcome.

For surprise to many, Election Commission itself consider your NOTA vote as an invalid vote‘.

Even the Election Commission also clarified that even though votes cast as NOTA are counted, they are considered as invalid votes so they will not change the outcome of the election process.

It says that they are not taken into account for calculating the total valid votes and will not be considered even for determining the forfeiture of deposit.

In 2014 Loksabha election, total count of NOTA votes was around 60 Lac (60,00,000), which was huge with 1.1 percent of total votes.

If NOTA has done the biggest damage to any one political party, it is BJP.

See, how critically important are the NOTA voters:

Top 10 NOTA share wise State Elections

RankElectionShare of NOTA votes
2 Chhattisgarh 2%
4 Puducherry 1.67%
5West Bengal 1.53%
6Madhya Pradesh1.4%

States, where NOTA share was higher than the Congress-BJP vote margin
Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan,

Considering the danger, which NOTA is posing, ex-CEC – T S Krishnamurthy has suggested to go for 2nd round of elections, where the winning margin is less than the NOTA option and the victorious candidate fails to get the one-third of total votes.

Try to convince others that their neutral opinion towards one party, may help the other party to snatch the seat, which probably they won’t like.

This is not the question of NOTA only, neutral or careless voters always harmed us. In 2004 Loksabha Election, one of the greatest performer Vajpayee govt was voted out just because of neutral voters.
